Cleaning & Maintaining your Blackstone Griddle

Cleaning & Maintaining your Blackstone Griddle

First we seasoned our Blackstone, then we made a delicious keto meal. Now it’s time to keep it in great condition to ensure every meal comes out perfectly cooked. Regular maintenance protects your griddle from rust and helps build the natural non-stick surface hat makes cooking low-carb favorites like eggs, salmon and veggies a breeze!

Here’s how to maintain your Blackstone after your delicious low carb meals:

What you’ll need:
Avocado oil
Paper Towels
Tongs
Metal Spatula

Instructions

1. Clean while it’s warm
• We let the griddle cool down, but while it’s still a little warm, use your metal spatula to remove the food and grease bits. Pour on a little hot water if you need some extra help.

2. Skip the soap
• Avoid soap - just a little water or oil is all you need. The soap can strip the seasoning layer you’ve built up!

3. Wipe it dry with a paper towel
• We tend to use paper towels rather than rags because it can make the rags greasy.

4. Re-oil lightly
• Once the surface is clean and dry, add a thin layer of avocado oil. This prevents rust and keeps the non-stick layer strong. Perfect for your next meal!

5. Store it covered
• Keep your griddle covered and out of the elements when not in use. We’re not winter grillers, so we store it in our garage during harsh weather. Humidity in damp climates can also cause rust.

6. Refresh seasoning as needed
• If your food starts to stick or the surface begins to look dull, just add a round or two of seasoning! How often this happens will depend on how regularly you use your Blackstone. You can always go back to our Seasoning your Blackstone post!

A few minutes of care after each use will keep your Blackstone looking and cooking like new. When your griddle is properly maintained, every keto and low carb meal gets that perfect sear and deep flavor - without any extra cleanup hassle! Treat your Blackstone right and it’ll reward you with countless sizzling, healthy meals to come.
